I've been trying to pick out a new phone for myself, seeing as I'm walking around like a hardcore dude with an old Nokia 3310.
A while ago I subscribed to the 5800 vs iPhone thread on the iXBT.com forum using my Yahoo pipe. I read it from time to time.
The signal-to-noise ratio in the thread is less than double.Epsilon. Simply put, it approaches zero. But what blows my mind the most is the fantastic level of swearing and stupidity from the participants. I myself sometimes like to argue for the hell of it, but over there the mindless shitstorm crosses all reasonable bounds — the participants call each other names in every single post, repeat the exact same things, present their personal hang-ups as arguments (instead of statistics), and refuse to even slightly look into the matter to operate on facts rather than their fantasies. At the same time, they aren't trolling, but are actually writing what they think.
I don't like censorship, but this is a clear case of the moderator slacking off. Plus, you can clearly see the audience of people who buy status smartphones. Something tells me that owners of QWERTY devices running Windows Mobile and Symbian wouldn't demonstrate their stupidity and bias so blatantly. Although, I'm probably overestimating people.
